Who Is Really Making The Buying Decision?

I instinctively knew right away who would be making the final decision and it wasn't the husband and wife who are signing the contract.  Yes they are adults, yes they will be paying the mortgage and yes they have their own family but if their parents don't like the house, they aren't buying.

Have you ever had to deal with a third party who isn't involved in the transaction but seems to have complete control?

All the Time!  And with the growth of the baby boomers, you see it more and more.  They not only have the final say for their child's starter home, but their parent's retirement home too!!

This has happened  many a times!  It's so frustrating.  I once had a couple back out of a contract because their 4 and 6 year old daughters didn't like the backyard.  I asked them "Who's buying this house, you or your daughter?"  They still backed out of that house, but bought another house that the kids didn't like, but was an awesome deal for them and met every need they had.

Lynn - I'm seeing it to, I know that it will be an issue when mom or dad actually go out with us to look at homes, but it is not unusual to have everyone come and look at the house to give their final approval.

Donna - Wow, the children making the decision... now I haven't had that yet.
