She Walked All Over Me at the Ritz Carlton, Orlando Grande Lakes!

Contrary to popular belief you really can have another REALTOR as a close friend, it isn't all about competition.  Last month my friend asked me to cover her business while she went out of town for a family emergency.  While she was away I negotiated a contract on one of her listings, completed the inspections and held an Open House that she had planned weeks in advance.  A thank you was sufficient, but she went overboard... she treated me to a massage at the Ritz.

A few weeks earlier she told me about a massage called Ashiatsu, a deep tissue massage that is performed with the masseuse's feet... yes I said feet.  She walked up and down my back and it was the deepest most relaxing massage I've ever had and I have had a lot of massages.  I can't say enough good things about my day at the Ritz... it is first class as expected but comfortable and friendly too.  You immediately feel right at home and you can have one treatment and make a day of it.  You have access to the pool, spa, sauna, steam room, lounge (I could spend the day there reading and drinking green tea alone), it is fabulous.  I felt like a queen for the day.  We had a late lunch in the Spa Cafe which offers seating out by the pool, it was the perfect day and I can't wait to be walked on again.

It is good to know.  I feel like I have lost a friend since she got in the business.  She has become so cut-throat and everything is so about her, that I just can't be friends with her anymore.  I am glad to see not everyone is like that.

I have worked many splits with different agents that go out of town and have had great success with these relationships.  One of the agents decided that she would let me handle all of her clients.  She worked full-time outside of real estate, but she had many contacts who needed a full-time Realtor.  She let me handle most everything and we split all the deals.  Some people would be whining about how I should have got more for my efforts, but I look at it as how much more that I received by being willing to help.  In that period of time I generated an additional 6 half sales....or 3 full ones.  This is business that I would have never seen otherwise, and she knew they were in good hands with me.  What a WIN-WIN!!

It's cool to see that agents are agents and we and our close friends are our best customers.  :)  I have several close agent friends, even some from different companies.  I think it's about an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity mindset.  I feel great when another agent I know gets a listing; that creates an opportunity for everyone to sell it.  I hope they feel the same way when I get the listing.  Plus, there are agents at my office that I simply give leads to (for various reasons) but basically if I'm too busy.  Those agents know they get quality leads from me (sometimes I ask for a referral; sometimes not).  Anyway, it's great to just talk with friends that are agents and that don't try to recruit you, that share ideas with you, and just want the best for you.

Hi Debbie,
Next time I want to cover for your friend, I sure could use a massage right now.  Isn't it crazy that some agents are so insecure that they cannot be friends.  Sad.

Debbie - What a great way to say Thank You.  Over the years we all develop relationships with other agents some excellent some good and a few not so good. We all have a need from time to time to put our business on hold for vacation, personal or health reasons. Our clients certainly benefit and appreciate the relationships we have with other agents at that time. Many have commented that they would never have know, as the service level never changed, had I not informed them that they were going to be looked after by someone in my absence.

Maria - It's true, not everyone is like that.  There are a lot of people in this business that I could never be friends with, but the majority of people are just like you and me...  Great friends.

Richard -Having someone you can count on in this business is priceless.  This business is all about WIN - WIN and when you forget that, it's time to go.

Cynthia - It is well worth the money, I still feel great.  I'm really trying to make massage part of my lifestyle, it beats cocktails to relax hands down.

Kathy -  Our clients do benefit from our relationships, and I wish I could express to them how important it is to work with an agent that "Plays well with others" there are to many people that are just in it for themselves.
