Yesterday it was 98° outside and I was wearing jeans, a long sleeve shirt, insulated vest and the thickest socks that I own. I was sweating before I ever walked out the door of my house. I picked up my two young friends who were ready and waiting for me... they too were bundled up and brought mittens to boot. A quick ride to RDV Sports in Orlando and we were back, back to one of our favorite places to beat the heat... The Ice Den.

There is nothing better than ice skating in the middle of August; no humidity just crisp, cold air. The Ice Den has open ice time daily during the summer for all the future Dorothy Hamel's (I'm showing my age) or just those of us who pray we don't fall and break a hip. Amy, Abby and I had a wonderful time... skating and signing along to Miley Cyrus, I know all the words.
Although my husband encouraged me to only watch, I laced up my skates and hit the ice... not literally... I stayed vertical the entire time.
The ice den is housed in the RDV Sports Complex which also serves as the training facility for the Orlando Magic, athletic club, spa, salon, tennis facility and indoor swimming pool.
The Ice Den @ The RDV is located on Maitland Avenue in Orlando just 2 miles West of Interstate 4 and about 15 minutes from Lake Mary. Please click here for more information.

Hi Debbie. Ice skating is fun. Good for you.
Next time, don't put the vest on until you get to the rink!
Ken
I remember being so pissed when this place opened. When we moved to florida the only rink here was a crappy one in the ghetto I figure skated for 5 years in Michigan competed and I came here, then when I was out of figureskating for a few years this olympic training place opened. I was pissed, it's one of the nicest rinks. :)
Looks very cool !!! That is the beauty about life - live and enjoy !!!!! Is great to take moments and enjoy.
Warm outside. Cold in. You get the best of both worlds. :-)
