Do Not Adjust Your Television... or Faux No Mr. Bill...

I could not decide on a title, both seem so appropriate...  Last Sunday I spent the afternoon with Derek and Laura, a wonderful young couple who are looking for their first home.  Derek and Laura sorted thought the almost endless options of homes in their price range and after driving by about 20 homes, they came up with 8 homes that they wanted to see.

I have to say that their 2 year old son was a real trooper, he inspected all of the kitchen cabinets in every home and never put up a fuss even though we were in and out of the heat and into homes had no electricity... and NO AIR CONDITIONING.

The last house was one that they were very excited about... although there was only one exterior photo, nothing could have prepared me for this...

Faux Painting

Almost every wall in the house was faux painted...  You could actually see how their skills progressed as they worked their way around each room.

The 2 year old was mesmerized by the walls and couldn't help but to slap his hands against them repeatedly...  Even a 2 year old knows when too much of a good thing is BAD!

Thank goodness it's only paint!

Have you noticed a lot of homes that look like this are now bank-owned homes? Not sure why that is, but I'm seeing walls like this one (OK, not quite like this one) in more and more bank-owned properties.

Don...  The interior paint in this house was like nothing I'd ever seen before...  Several of the homes that we looked at were "a little off" what were they thinking?

Thank you for being the first to comment!

Debbie: I really hope the photo is not really the faux painted walls, please tell me they aren't! If so those are the ugliest wall ever!!! The 2 year old will need therapy as shopping for a new home would have been traumatic to his artistic development.

Mary -  I kid you not...  These are the real FAUX PAINTED WALLS!  Believe me, I think I scarred the child for life.

Debbie, wheeeee!  Can't imagine an entire home looking this way.  I'm sure the owners liked it while they were there.  I'd have trouble sleeping!!!!!

This is a clear case of watching one too many episodes of DIY television.  God bless 'em.  I guess that they had to move on since obviously they had improved every room in the home.  Can't wait to see what they try next on home number two.  Maybe now that they've mastered paint they'll learn to do flooring.  I'll bet they're already at HD loading up their cart with one of everything.

Did they buy the house?

Debbie,

That is what makes our jobs so fun !!! The stories that we get, the properties that we see, the buyers we work with... it is great !!! LOL, thanks for sharing.

DEBBIE - I've never seen such a commitment to faux painting (especially in those colors).  That house looks like Japanese animation.  You're lucky that the kid didn't have a seizure. (lol)

Kay - It was so busy...  I'm sure that they thought it was great and being furnished probably helped, but it was a big "WOW" when we walked through the front door.

LaShawn... Who knows.  The baby (I know he's 2, but he calls everyone baby) could have used something when he was in there though, his parents said that they had never seen him act like that before...

Oooh, lovely. Good for you, though, to point out that it is only paint! An easy fix!

Some people just watch to much HGTV.  OMG, that is bad.  The sad thing is someone worked really hard on this and they think it is gorgeous, bless their hearts.

Hey Deborah...   This house is not on  the final list and the reason isn't the paint...  It's too bad the owner's didn't take a class on re-tiling the baths...

If I look at the wall long enough will a hidden 3D image make itself known to me?

Heather - I know... It's a hidden gem... hidden under bad paint.
