Don't worry this isn't a Sunday sermon, but it does seem to be an appropriate day to share...
I met Penny two weeks ago when the townhouse she was going to buy did not appraise at contract price and the builder wouldn't lower the price to the appraised value (That's another post in itself). She needed to find a home and did not have a REALTOR, that's where I come in.
After looking at some resale homes, we visited a Toll Brothers community that is built out and selling the models. She fell in love with the model, but not the price. Penny and her daughter in law jumped in my Jeep to ride over to an inventory home that had a lower price point.
As we were riding over to the model, Penny told me that it was 4 years to the day that they laid her mother to rest. She said that in her final days, Penny and her sister asked "How will we know you're in Heaven?"
Her mother said "Bury me with a roll of dimes and every time you find one, you will know that I'm in heaven." She told me that she was telling me the story because there was a dime on the floor in my car behind my seat. 4 years to the day, it sent chills through me.
Was it just a random dime on the floor of my car?
I want believe that it was there for reason...

Debbie, That does give one goose bumps, very touching. Well I would say the two of you certainly shared a special bonding moment!
Debbie I always thought it was pennies that fell from heaven but if my Mother had told me that it would be dimes I would definately believe the dimes were not random.
I found a penny today

Just laying on the ground
But it's not just a penny
This little coin I've found.
Found pennies come from Heaven
That's what my Grandpa told me,
He said, "Angels toss them down."
Oh, how I loved that story.
He said, "When an angel misses you
They toss a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up
To make a smile out of your frown."
So don't pass by that penny
When you're feeling blue,
It may be a penny from Heaven
That an Angel tossed to you.
An Angel is Watching Over You
We all have angels looking over us,
no matter how young or old we might be.
So the next time you are feeling a little blue,
Maybe a penny you find laying on the ground,
Was tossed down from heaven by an angel,
Just for you . . .
All we have to do is open our minds and believe. I believe that we all go to heaven after reading "Conversations with God" by Neale Walshe.
Mary - It did give me goose bumps... I haven't picked it up, I'm going to leave it there and give it to her at closing.
Brenda - Pennies, dimes, whatever works... I was really moved when she shared the story with me. Thank you for sharing the poem.
Jean - I haven't read the book, we all need to believe.
I miss the days when we put things in people's coffins. For my grandmother, evey grandchild had to give her a penny for the toll "to cross the River Jordan" :)
p.s. I am very spiritual. The book by Neale Walsch is not religious. In fact most religious believer will not necessarily believe what they read in this book. I do believe it and it makes sense.
Ardell, I like what your family did for your grandmother. Thank you
Ardell - What a wonderful tradition... I agree with Jean.
Jean- You've peaked my interest, I'll have to add it to see if I can download it to my Ipod.
That dime was definitely there for a reason. Giving it to her at closing will probably mean more to her than the new keys in her hand.
Brenda, I love that poem. I had never heard it before. It was a perfect response.
Brenda-I love this and shared it with a good friend of mine. My husband will look at me a little funny when I tell him I see angels. No, I'm not crazy. Thanks for sharing that
Brenda, I love it! Thanks
Very moving and touching story. Thank you for sharing it.
Debbie, I always say the pennies on the ground are good luck. I have never heard the story about the dimes. I LOVE this story. How wonderful that she found you and knew it was fate for you to help her.
Debbie - beautiful story...and very appropriate poem that Brenda posted. Thanks for sharing, there seems to be many times in our business that the people we deal with make a difference in our lives as well as the other way around. Great business most of the time. Thanks
That gave me chills Debbie. I like brendas comment about dimes vs pennies. You never know if coincides are merely that or something more.
Jim & Maria... I'm going to put it in a small frame for them and give it to them after closing. She can keep it close by.
I love this story. I have never heard the dime thing before.
Pat - Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment... There are angels among us.
Brenda - The Poem is a big hit, thank you... thank you for sharing it with us.
Laura - Thank you, it really moved me and I'm glad that I've had such positive responses.
Audrey - It truly was fate... I'm so glad that I'm part of their home buying experience, she really needs a break.
Kathy - I love this business, I've met some really incredible people who will continue to be part of my life forever.
Heather - I agree... I can't wait until closing so that I can show her that I believe too.
Melody - I know, I wish that I had heard about this tradition before... I could have used it.
Everyone... Thank you for your positive responses!
Debbie: This story indeed wil give you a chill up the spine. I hope you were able to get them a home.
Roland - We are waiting for the builder to sign off on the contract... It looks like she will be home soon. Thank you for your comment and support.
Debbie, great story. I've heard similar ones, but I do know that the veil is very thin between this life and the next. ;-)
Debbie, I really enjoyed your post. Very touching, indeed. :-)
Debbie, there is a reason for everything that happens to us. Penny's mother must be giving her approval.
That is a great story : ) Everything happens for a reason... also am interested to how the story ends with the buyer !!!
Debbie:
That was special and I do believe it was one of the dimes.
Why not!
Richard
Debbie- Just wanted to say welcome to the group. I loved your blog. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Debbie.. Great post. Like another AR member mentioned, I thought it was pennies too. But with inflation, I can see why it is dimes. LOL. Anyway, there is NO such thing as coincidence.. that dime on the floor of the vehicle was there for a reason.
Debbie~How sweet was that? I too am a believer that all things happen for a reason and that if we were all to be more conscious of what is happening around us, we'd appreciate the "coincidences" even more!
Debbie - This was a sweet story. Thanks for sharing it with us. Good stuff!
Debbie, I loved ths story! These personal moments are what make this business so gratifying. (most of the time anyway LOL)
Forget the frame... Have it made into a keychain she can carry with her.
there are no coincidences...thanks for sharing this heavenly story Debbie and for the poem Brenda :)
Sincerely,
Grace
Great story! I'll never look at dimes the same way again.
Debbie..... just wanted to check back and see if all went well on this one.. Have a great weekend
Hi Debbie-
Love the story and the poem from Barabra. It's just one of life's little treats to find a coin. Thanks for sharing. Greeting from Paradise.
If not the penny or the dime, but to be laying on your bed and feeling the bed go down from weight and no one else is in the room with you. As you are in a slight sleep, you feel the gentle hands, push your hair back and you swear it says...Be Well Nancy, I still love you.
The bed rises back up and I see an angel leave...I called....Mom....but she was gone.
I love that story, thank you so much! It was wonderful! My mother is very ill, I may use this with our son when the time comes. It made me so happy.
