Real Estate is Local - Always Work With Your Local Expert...

Move To Lake Mary dot Com, our Local Lake Mary Real Estate Blog is featuring a new series of articles entitled "Lake Mary Real Estate 101".  This week's installment is entitled "Real Estate is Local".  If there is one thing that I've learned here on Active Rain it is that what's happening in Lake Mary, Florida has nothing to do with what's happening in Maple Valley, Washington.  If you are looking for expert real estate advice in Lake Mary I'm your girl, but if you want to know what's happening in another area you should talk to an expert there.

How do you find your local expert?  Great Question...

My advice is to talk to your REALTOR, chances are that your REALTOR has relationships with other real estate professionals in other areas of the Country.

If you don't have a relationship with a REALTOR, the next best way to find your local expert is to log on to a Real Estate Network like Active Rain where you can read an agent's blog and get to know them before you make contact with them.  I've found some really outstanding REALTORS on Active Rain just through their blogs and the best part is when I have talked with them or met them in person, they are just as smart, funny and engaging as they are on the pages of Active Rain.

You should have a REALTOR in your Rolodex BlackBerry, a trusted adviser that keeps you informed about changes in your local real estate market, financing, property taxes and so much more.  If you are looking for the Lake Mary, Florida Real Estate Expert, please call me @ 407-758-1020...  If you are looking for the Maple Valley, Washington Real Estate Expert I can connect you with her too.

I agree!  A local lender has more accountability to more people, and we often have no idea who the Internet lender is... it could be someone operating out of his/her garage.

Debbie, Great advice!! A local agent knows the market.

Debbie, thanks for the link love ;-). You're absolutely right (as usual) Local, Local, Local! I'm learning that with my son's process as well. If the agent doesn't know details about the market, we will move on.

The internet is a great resource for finding Realtors because you at least know they are savvy with creating an online presence. This is especially when it comes to selling your home.
