Is Lake Mary High School's Pool Funding Going Down The Drain?

Many Lake Mary and Seminole County residents have taken sides on the proposed Olympic-sized pool at Lake Mary High School.  I saw the pool as an improvement to the School and the community.  I spend a lot of time with people who are considering Lake Mary as their home and the addition of a pool to the area is perceived as a positive one.

I know that school budget cuts and funding are of concern to everyone and that the pool can also be seen as a luxury item that isn't necessary...  The City of Lake Mary is in a very difficult place and I hope that residents attend the Council Meeting to have their voices heard.

Deb,

It's all about community involvement. So many people are content to have a vocal few make all the decisions. I don't know anything about Lake Mary but that type of attraction in any community adds value.

I think the whole swimming pool issue is just bad timing.  The school district should wait a few years until the economy gets better AND THEN re-consider the pool.  Right now there are more important basic things to focus the money on.

I agree with Rob, plus lake mary high school was on the list last year for the highest water usage in the Central Florida area and wastes the most water, cant imagine what adding a pool will do to that.

Debbie, it is a challenge maintaining all of the fun stuff in our schools and communities. I know they plan to shut down several here in my area. ;-)

I have always been in favor for these kind of improvements within our schools. I hope you get the outcome you are looking for.

Hi Mary~ That is really a tough one, especially with the economy the way it is right now. Many may see it as unnecessary right now....but, I guess it just depends on the consensus of most....

Debbie,
Every town, county and school system is having to make some difficult decisions--money is tight and what one sees as a necessity, another sees as a luxury.  Serving on a school board or as a commissioner at this time is a position, I want.

I hope your arm and hand are feeling better!  Maybe some swimming would be just the thing.
